A right royal affair – Uffington Scarecrow Festival!

17 April 2023 | News

Uffington is gearing up for a right royal affair over the May Bank Holiday weekend, as the Royal Family of Scarecrows take centre stage! With over 40 scarecrows donning their finest regal attire, the parade promises to be fit for a king.

But that’s not all – the festivities include a Dog Show on Sunday, and a brand-new attraction this year: “The Piano” in Church. Hosted by volunteers, visitors can indulge in homemade cakes, books, plants, railways, alpacas, face painting, crafts, tractors, tombolas, BBQs, welly wanging, classic cars, trips up the church tower, coconut shy, bouncy castle, and all the fun you can handle for just £5 per car, including a quiz sheet. For those without a car, the cost is only £2.50 per quiz sheet. We’ve even been promised a Hurricane, but only one with a pilot!

Not only will you have a fantastic time, but all proceeds go towards supporting local clubs and historic buildings. The hard-working villagers have pulled out all the stops to organise this festival, so grab your family and friends, and come join the fun! This year, you even get to vote for your favourite scarecrow.

Corgis (and other less regal but well-behaved pooches) are more than welcome. Payment can be made by cash or card at most attractions. For more information, contact scarecrows@uffington.org.uk, or visit our brand-new website at https://uffington.org.uk
