Scarecrow Festival 2025 – A resounding success!

7 May 2025 | News

Uffington’s annual Scarecrow Festival returned over the early May Bank Holiday weekend with sunshine, smiles and a spectacular turnout – and what a weekend it was!

This year’s festival welcomed over 5,000 visitors to our picturesque village for two days of family fun, community spirit and wonderfully inventive scarecrows. Organised entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers, the festival is a true labour of love – and the results speak for themselves.

From those who built over 45 scarecrows, to the team who put out cones, directed cars, poured tea, baked cakes, ran games, manned stalls flipped burgers and made sure everything ran smoothly – this event simply couldn’t happen without you. The effort is enormous, but seeing the village bustling with happy faces makes it all worthwhile.

The festival also raised vital funds that support not only Uffington’s amenities but also several other local good causes. It’s a shining example of what a small village can achieve through teamwork and tradition.

Congratulations to our Best Scarecrow and quiz competition winners, and a hearty thanks to our bakers – we estimate well over a thousand cakes were baked, sold, and thoroughly enjoyed!

📌 Save the Date: Next year’s Scarecrow Festival will take place on 3rd & 4th May 2026, once again over the first May Bank Holiday weekend.

🎉 In the meantime, let’s take a moment to pause and give thanks. All are warmly invited to a Thank You Service at Uffington Church on Sunday 22nd June at 11am. We’ll be celebrating every single person who helped bring the festival to life – from scarecrow builders to sandwich makers.
